Available to all Registered Welara and Foundation Stock
Available to all Welara and Foundation Stock registered with the American Welara Pony Registry, both domestic and international. Geographic location is not of importance. Nomination is required prior to any point accumulation, there is a $15 nomination fee for EACH animal nominated (United States funds). This fee MUST be sent to the Welara Registry and be received within 21 or less days after completion of the Nomination Request Form. No exceptions. Failure to do so will automatically exempt your animal from the program and any physical or financial awards offered through it, for that show season / nomination year. Each nomination fee entitles one registered Welara or Foundation Stock enlistment within the Awards Program for that show season / nomination year. Generally it is advisable to either nominate your animal just prior to the beginning of the New Year, or shortly thereafter. Waiting until later in the show season to nominate your animal has the disadvantage of reducing the amount of months you have to participate in shows and events where you may receive awards that would count towards the Year End High Point. Membership is NOT mandatory Nomination Form available on bottom of this page
How will your nomination fee be used Out of each $15 dollar nomination fee, $11 dollars will be placed into a "Purse". At the years end, the Welara Registry will calculate point earnings for each nominated animal and determine which animals accumulated the most points and will award the "Purse" and physical awards accordingly. Purse size (financial value) will directly be governed by how many registered owners of Welara and Foundation Stock take part in this program by nominating their animals. The more nomination fees received, the greater the purse value. The remaining $4 dollars out of each nomination fee will be add at the years end to the Registries pre-allotted awards fund designated for trophies, plaques and ribbons. This will increase the quality and value of the physical awards presented. In the event that an unnecessary financial amount accumulates in the awards fund, the excess will be diverted to the "Purse" fund. This program has the unique opportunity of earning points at ALL levels of showing, from open All Breed local events in your nearby town, Welsh and / or Arabian breed shows held by local, state, or national groups, to United States Equestrian Federation rated events. Even competitive trail events where awards are offered for performance achievements will count towards High Point earnings within this program. It is NOT mandatory for events to be judged by a Welara judge licensed by this Registry for points to be accumulated, recognized, and awards offered by the Welara Registry. It is preferred that such judges are either licensed by this Registry, or at least thoroughly familiar with the Arabian, Welsh, and Welara breeds. Other than taking into consideration Welara conformation and breeding, judging procedures should follow the guidelines set forth by United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) procedures for the Welsh divisions and Arabian divisions. Classes and events that count towards Year End High Point Awards are: • All English Under Saddle performance and Pleasure classes • All English Jumping including Hunter Hack classes • All Harness / Driving including Roadster Pony classes • All Western including Pleasure classes • Competitive Trail events where awards are offered for performance achievements • Walk Trot • Play Day events • Gymkhana events
First place winners ONLY will be awarded the Purse and Trophy or Plaque, at the Registries option. Second place winners will be awarded a certificate of recognition. Third place winners will be featured in the Welara Journal, but do not receive awards. Fourth place winners will be featured in the Welara Journal, but do not receive awards. • We do not at this time issue awards to third, fourth or fifth place winners • Points are not accumulated by the human exhibitor, only the Nominated Registered animal accumulates points. We do not count points for human contestants / exhibitors and they're showing record and success. Accumulated points are scanned, compiled, recorded, and awarded by the Registries computer systems. All decisions concerning accumulated points, awards and purses are final and without argument Point Values
When you show your Welara or Foundation Stock and receive an award at that event it has a "point value". That point value will be accredited each time your animal receives an award at a show or event, and you return the Awards Received Form. All of these points accumulate over the Nominated show year and will be counted towards the Year End High Point.
Awards have different values and are worth more points if received from certain types of shows and events, and larger events with more difficult competition count higher than awards received from small Open All Breed events or "local shows". Nevertheless each and every point is important. One point can make the difference between winning, or losing.
Helpful Guidelines Before Showing Measuring Height
Stand the animal on a smooth solid level surface, be sure the animal is standing square, not stretched. Hold the head low enough to show the highest point of the withers and no lower. While the animal is in this position measure vertical distance from the highest point of the withers, to the ground, (see diagram).
On very rare occasions, a Welara at maturity may not meet regular size requirements of 46" to 60" (11.2 hands to 15.0 hands). This situation does not affect the animals eligibility for regular registration
as a Welara, or his / her usefulness as a sire or dam to propagate the Welara breed.
It may affect showing your animal, since size requirements are at approved shows and competitions. On occasion a particular show or event may offer special classes or activities where such individuals can still compete or perform. In such cases awards will still count towards Year End High Point.
Measuring Toe and Heel
The length of toe will be determined by measuring the front of the hoof in the center from the hair line to the ground. The height of
the heel will be determined by measuring from the hair line to the ground. The length of the toe for Welara ponies that are being shown must not exceed
four and one quarter inches, 4 1/4". The heel must not exceed one and three quarter inches, 1 3/4". The shoe excluding nails but including pad must not
weigh more than eleven ounces, 11 ounces.(see diagram). Nomination Form available here Top of page |
